Our Opportunity
The Technical Sales Scientist, Acoustics role is responsible for maintaining and growing relationships with the acoustics consultant community, assisting the marketing team, and providing technical support. While primarily an outward facing role, the Technical Sales Scientist will assist with testing and data analysis in the NVLAP Accredited (Lab Code 600320-0) Maxxon Acoustics Lab floor/ceiling testing chambers.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor’s or a master’s degree in acoustics or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in acoustical measurements and consulting.
Relationship Management (30-40% travel)
- Act as a Maxxon acoustical representative through in-person visits, virtual presentations, and events in coordination with the regional sales team focusing on acoustics consultants as well as related design and construction connections.
- Represent Maxxon at annual acoustic conferences and industry meetings such as ASA, NoiseCon, and NCAC.
- Assist the Lead Scientist in providing technical support to the regional sales representatives and communicate customer challenges and opportunities back to the technical and operations teams.
- Support the marketing team in development and maintenance of acoustic related resources, including marketing copy, sales and installation support tools, specifications, and architectural details.
- Support the marketing and sales team by monitoring competitive products to identify threats and opportunities using the information to inform marketing resources and testing plans and to educate the sales team and Maxxon applicators during trainings.
- Perform lab and field sound transmission testing per ASTM E90, E492, E2179, E336, and E1007 using in-lab systems and handheld meters to acquire data from tapping machine, impact ball, and loudspeaker sound sources.
- Assist in test data analysis and preparing data summaries for inclusion of new sound test resources in marketing assets and technical papers.
- Periodically assist with acoustic test sample preparation, including mixing and pouring concrete, and installing floor finishes.
Required Skills
- Detailed understanding of building code acoustical requirements and standard field and laboratory test methods.
- Ability to acquire, analyze, and report on noise and vibration data.
- High degree of organization and detail in the collection and reporting of data.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and in cross-functional teams.
- A passion to investigate and solve installations or construction displaying acoustical challenges.
- Outstanding communications skills with the ability to influence scientific peers, customers, and management stakeholders.
